A competitive away trip ended in disappointment as Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth ASC fell to a narrow 9-7 defeat against Southampton. The visitors created enough opportunities to take something from the game and spent long periods matching their opponents. However, key moments ultimately went Southampton’s way. Every time Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth appeared ready to build momentum, the hosts produced a response. The closing stages were particularly frustrating as the visitors pressed hard in search of an equaliser that never arrived. While the result was difficult to accept, the performance demonstrated that the team could compete effectively away from home against strong opposition.
